believe, my duties have been efficiently performed it is small encouragement to be told that they are peculiar, and that there-

fore I may not look for such reward as more favoured colleagues

receive. Indeed the prospect is most disheartening.

Finally I beg to ask that my name may be

again submitted to the Secretary of State for the Colonies

with a view to my being considered for promotion when any

vacancies occur in the Gaol, Police, Post Office, or other

Departments in any Colony for which I may be held to be

qualified.
